| http://gw2.luna-atra.fr/interview-etape-avec-arenanet?start=2 | Quote: | - LA : One of the biggest deficiencies of the first GW was the lack of real economic tools such as an auction house or a private store mode, so we were forced to sell auction-style but then we were unable to really play. Not considering the fact there was not a unique trade outpost, this did not ease the task. What is planned in GW2?
Curtis Johnson – Game Designer: Guild Wars 2 includes a full Marketplace for players, which will differ from the usual MMO auction house in a number of ways. The biggest and most important difference is GW2’s Marketplace supports postings from both buyers and sellers. You might put your sword up for sale, then offer 100 gold for the specific axe you’re looking for without having to find any specific seller. The market can display the history of average value and trends for an item, making it easy to determine a fair value for your goods. It might be worth waiting to sell your item, depending if the price is rising or falling.
Items you put up for sale may sell while you’re offline, and the funds will be deposited in your account bank. You must be in game to put a new item up for sale, but you will be able to browse the market, bid from your account bank, or cancel your own auctions and offers while logged in to a web browser without running the game.

| Outstanding. I especially like this quote: | Quote: | | The market can display the history of average value and trends for an item, making it easy to determine a fair value for your goods. It might be worth waiting to sell your item, depending if the price is rising or falling. |

| That is probably the best news I've heard about GW2 to date. Everything else is just icing on the cake. LOL I HATE standing around trying to sell crap. |

| idk if u read the rest of the article, but Eric Flammum talked about a level cap, so ANET obviously decided to put one in and avoid their stupid idea of no level cap |

However, they did claim the GW2 level cap was "substantially higher", which is always what I figured. If GW2 was ever going to hold true to ANet's philosophy of grind not giving you an advantage (though I'm sure there's plenty of grind in there, knowing what happened to GW1), then there has to be limits imposed somewhere in the character development system.______________________ |

| also on a different article in link round up )http://www.massively.com/2010/05/28/massivelys-interview-with-the-guild-wars-2-design-team/ it mentioned crafting for the first time. | Quote: | Speaking of crafting, how much of a part will crafting play in Guild Wars 2? Are you exploring new avenues in that area, maybe looking beyond traditional crafting items like armor and weapons?
John: Crafting will play a very large role in Guild Wars 2, and while weapons and armor will be a big part of the base of the items that players create, we are doing our best to ensure that players don't have to make a lot of anything that they can use only one of. For example, in Guild Wars 2 you will not have to craft the same sword 10-20 times just to level up your crafting skill. Hopefully our players will find that the only reasons they have to craft any given item more than once are because they can actually use it more than once, because they want to give it to a friend, or because they want to sell it for profit. With this goal in mind it does of course mean we have our work cut out for us when it comes to other interesting items to craft, and we have already spent a lot of time exploring in areas such as upgrade components that can be used to improve existing items beyond the condition that they were originally found or crafted in. |
interesting that we now know that you can make armor/weapons. But if they remove the grind of leveling up to make a new item, they it seems to me that they will remove the difficulty in making an item (thus making selling for a profit impossible) |

| hmmm sounds like merchant-retarded people like me might beable to join the market in GW2, thats a plus. what was that atlantica that did something similar...? had auto high and low prices posted then inbetween were player prices and basically pick and choose your desired item by stat and price... cool cool. wonder just how they will implement it. with a window and or outpost. seems sensable to have a farmers market like area to stagnate ppl with buy sell window but have a window you can open anywhere ingame if desired would probably be favorable - maybe home access plus interlinked anet site auction page is what they are doing.. i dunno. like patrick star ... i think something is burning..
-crafting.. looks like mods/upgrades will be crafted too. they sure intermingled a lot of rpgs and mmos together for this one.... ((still want a flippin fishing pole, and i'll throw in a garden plot to go with the personal character home plz. yea thanks my list just went up mmmhhmmm take that. |

| My bet is prices will stay fairly stable as well. No more dipshits over charging just because they can. Now everyone will know they're being pricks. |

| yeah, prices will remain stable. Just like ectos, although theres always a 1 ecto per 100k difference between buyers and sellers, the price has remained stable cept for major changes (the jump after UWSC, etc). |
