Over on Guild Wars 2 Guru, Jimmeh1993 started a thread titled You Have A Choice To Make which got me thinking. The question is raised regarding how people plan to play through the game at first release:

Jimmeh1993 wrote:
When Guild Wars 2 is released...how are you going to play your first moments? Will you be racing to be the first to "beat" the storyline and be level 80? Or will you take the slow pace and take your time to explore every detail?

Do you want to be the first level 80? Or the first to find a rare Asuran lab?

Likewise, I will ask all of you in the ECTOs Community... How will YOU play through the game at first release? Take it all in or race to the finish?

I'll probably end up re-rolling my first character a bunch of times because I'm damn picky with my look, etc. I know I'll see other peoples' characters and read about other classes/races/etc. and get all excited to try them out over what I currently have.

To answer the question, I would prefer to experiment with all of the different gameplay styles and create several characters of various races/classes at once before settling on just one main one, which will most likely result in me falling behind the high-level "rushers". I'm also interested in GW2 PvP a hell of a lot more than I was in GW1, so time spent checking those game modes out will slow me down.

Get main to level 80 and find the high-end aspect of the game. Work on lore and stuff on my other characters.

I'm a little bitch when it comes to leveling in high-capped games, so I'll probably rush one character to 80, explore the end-game content and get myself an alt who will take everything a lot slower, just enjoying the game.

I have a feeling that GW2 will be more like WoW in that it's not really feasible to have one of every profession of every race, and instead just have a main character and one or two alts. At first, at least.

I would mostly just do what I feel like, always have been that way, probably kick back take my time, then as I arrive closer to the end make a sprint for it
