[Reddit] Will existing achievements get converted? (ANet's answer)

[Reddit] Will existing achievements get converted? (ANet's answer)

Colin Johanson wrote:
Text Version: "The initial version will only be for daily/monthly achievements (this will not be retroactively rewarded.) Later you’ll see a system in place that rewards more expanded achievements points which will retroactively reward all achievements already earned, yes.

However, there are some achievements which are infinitely repeatable currently. It is highly likely so this new system isn’t broken we’ll need to cap those and people who have made insane progress down one of those lines will lose some of their progress to get back to the cap. I wouldn’t recommend anyone go bonkers trying to progress an infinitely repeatable achievement category in anticipation of the release of this system, as you will likely lose some points/progress if you take it to an extreme number.

We’re still working out the details on the system, so that’s about as far into detail as I can go currently."

Re: this screenshot of (some of) the achievement rewards:

It will be 1 crown for daily + 10 crowns for monthly achievements. Also, existing rewards will remain intact, so for example you still get your Mystic Coin + Jug of Karma + Possible Bonus Item + Coins for your dailies and so on.

[GW2.com] Guesting is Coming

^^ Free world transfers are ending with the major January update and server guesting is being put in. Details at the above link.

More importantly is this quote from the above article:

Quote :
Guesting is coming to a world near you with our update on January 28th!

^^ The major January update is coming on January 28th. There you have it. Smile

Some members of the GW2 dev team are conducting a roundtable-style interview today to address some of their game plans going forward. Much is vague, much has already been mentioned in Colin Johanson's above blog post, but a few more details are given here so it's worth a look-see. A summary of what's been discussed is located in this Reddit thread:

[Reddit] Jan 17 Dev livestream summary

I love that ANet is more concerned about having to nerf AoE for being too powerful with regards to tagging mobs rather than addressing the main reason people flock to AoE in the first place: the bullshit, overly-damage-dependent mob tagging loot system. Hopefully this ALSO is going to be seeing some changes coming up here as it is IMO one of the major flaws in the entire game.

Some of the dungeon changes are going to directly affect our playstyle so that will be pretty interesting to see.

They streamed for 15 mins then did a 2 hour lunch break, then came back for another 20 mins.

Nice stream ANet.

Interesting tidbit from the roundtable interview:

Quote :
Changes to Orr at end of month – adding some new effects, environment zones, rewards

^^ As someone who likes to run around the various Orr zones, I'm interested in what this is all about. Smile

[Reddit] MMOFTW Livestream with Colin Johanson Notes

^^ Yet another Q&A-type session was held yesterday. The above link has a summary of everything that was said.

Interesting to note the upcoming Orr changes:

Quote :
THEY ARE THINNING OUT THE RISEN DENSITY IN ORR!!!!!!!! (In January) Adding new rewards in Orr, as well as new WAYPOINTS that are always active. They are also tweaking temple bosses so they are funner in large groups.
